The Road Less Traveled

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

We've done a lot of work in front of our house this summer, it has been fun.
I had wanted to put in some stone edging, but as I dug it in, found huge, old tree roots right in the way.
I mentioned this to David, saying it was too bad... and then out he goes, and for two days works with axe, shovel, chainsaw, and other large man tools to cut away this gigantic tree root.
I kept saying, "you don't have to do all that work, I'll go around it!" And he says, "this is where you want it, right?" "Well, yeah" I say.

That guy is awesome.Nearly all of this has been planted this year, it has taken work, but looks great! I love gardening.

this spiky, red plant (crocosmia) is one of my favorites. I love it! And it brings the hummingbirds.
Purple coneflowers, so pretty next to the black-eyed susans!

It's been a lot of hot, sweaty days out there working, but summer is now my official favorite season... because I CAN get out there to work and plant and get things done in the yard.

I'll miss summer and it's beauty!

I'm excited to see all this grow back in next year even bigger, fuller, and more beautiful.
